Huambo: maternity and pediatrics rehabilitation works at the general hospital completed

The governor of the province of Huambo, Pereira Alfredo – who this Monday carried out inspection visits to ongoing and suspended projects in that province – said that the physical execution of the maternity and pediatrics requalification works at the General Hospital of Huambo is finished, and now only the equipment is missing.

According to a statement from the provincial government of Huambo, to which VerAngola had access, the equipment will be provided by the Ministry of Health and its partners.

"The governor also noted the physical execution of the maternity and pediatrics requalification works at the Huambo General Hospital, which is currently only awaiting the equipping that will be carried out by the Ministry of Health and partners", the note reads.

In statements to the press, cited by Angop, the provincial governor expressed satisfaction with the development of the works, having also mentioned that it is a work that shows the concern of the ministry of the sector in providing more medical and medication assistance to citizens, as well as simultaneously improve sanitary conditions in Huambo.

The governor also stated that he was informed by the contractor about the current progress of cleaning and equipment testing activities, as well as the preparation of bureaucratic work in order to prepare the training of technicians at the aforementioned hospital.

The future infrastructure – whose construction began in January last year, within the scope of the social responsibility of the oil company Cabinda Gulf Oil Company and its Block 0 associates – will have 220 beds and 30 neonatology cots. Furthermore, according to Angop, the maternity ward will also offer sterilization services, x-rays, infirmaries, as well as three surgical rooms, three resuscitation rooms, delivery rooms, etc.

According to a statement from the provincial government of Huambo, the governor also visited the future pediatric hospital in Huambo, having been satisfied with the level of physical execution of the construction works of the aforementioned unit, which will have capacity for around 200 beds.

In addition, the governor also visited the works on the Huambo municipal stadium, the works on the future provincial court, as well as "noting the current state of the infrastructure of the former mother and child center of mineira, the future facilities of the technical and teacher training school in the Macolocolo neighborhood, the asphalting works on three kilometers of road in the Santa Iria neighborhood, school number 103, in the São João neighborhood and the future provincial directorate of ex-combatants and veterans of the Fatherland, all paralyzed".

On the occasion, the governor "assured that the local government will continue to advocate with the central structures, so that works that are suspended and those that are delayed due to lack of payment, experience greater speed in their physical execution", says the statement from the provincial government.
