Detained two students who protested at the Brazilian embassy

The Police said this Wednesday that two students detained on Tuesday in a protest in front of the Brazilian embassy in Angola, due to the delay in issuing visas, will be presented to the Public Ministry in the next few hours.

According to the spokesperson for the Luanda provincial command of the National Police, Nestor Goubel, these two students were detained for disrespecting the authorities.

“They lacked respect and almost attacked the police, which is why they were taken to the police station”, Nestor Goubel told Lusa, highlighting that demonstration is a constitutional right, but “there are procedures and it is necessary to respect the authorities”.

On Tuesday, a group of students held a protest in front of the Brazilian embassy in Angola, because they have been waiting for months to obtain their student visas, having already registered in several Brazilian private educational institutions and paying tuition fees, as per reported Novo Jornal.

“What happened to this couple who were detained is precisely contempt for the authorities, lack of respect. That's why they were the only ones who were detained. The two will be presented to the Public Ministry, if not today, tomorrow”, he said.
