According to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access, the head of state arrived in New York last Saturday. "The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, arrived in New York this Saturday, to take part in the Seventy-Eighth General Assembly of the United Nations", the note reads.
The head of state "should speak on the second day of the general debate, Wednesday the 20th", the statement said.
The President of the Republic's agenda also includes "a long list of political and diplomatic contacts", which includes "meetings with counterpart Presidents and Heads of Government from different countries around the world".
It should be noted that the UN's annual debate, at its headquarters in New York, brings together the organization's 193 member countries, lasting until September 26th. According to Angop, the theme of this year's debate is "Rebuilding Trust and Renewing Global Solidarity through Actions to Accelerate the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda to Achieve Peace, Prosperity, Progress and Sustainability for All".
