Supreme Court rejects reviewing decision on PRA-JA and Chivukuvuku appeals again

The political project PRA-JA Servir Angola, by Abel Chivukuvuku, announced an “appeal of appeal” after receiving the decision from the Constitutional Court that rejected reviewing the ruling that makes the legalization of the party unfeasible.

The Court maintains, in the note sent to the representative of Chivukuvuku, dated 28 August, that "the documents that serve as the basis for the request for review have already been subject to assessment and re-examination by this Court" and that "they do not meet the novelty requirement" .

In the response to the TC, to which Lusa had access, the Installation Commission of PRA-JA Servir Angola, coordinated by the former director of UNITA and the CASA-CE coalition Abel Chivukuvuku, declares itself unsatisfied and addresses the plenary of that instance another request to file an appeal.

This request aims to counter the order of the president of the Constitutional Court, Laurinda Cardoso, who outright rejected the Extraordinary Appeal for Review of the Judgment that made PRA–JA Servir Angola unfeasible.

"All citizens, directly involved in the odyssey that has been the struggle for the annotation of PRA-JA SERVIR ANGOLA, are aware that this results from the fact that, instead of jurisprudence, the Venerable Judge Counselor President of the Constitutional Court acts and judges the case, only motivated by reasons of a political nature", says the management of PRA-JA Servir Angola in a statement.

For formation, "political maneuvers" that aim to make the party's constitution unfeasible continue to be in force.

The TC definitively rejected, on December 7, 2020, the legalization of the Angolan Renaissance Party-Juntos Por Angola (PRA-JA) Servir Angola, for "not addressing insufficiencies" and presenting "ambiguous allegations", sending a new attempt from there four years, in a process that has been going on since 2019.

Abel Chivukuvuku left the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) in 2012, where he had been a member since 1974 and a former leader, and, in the same year, founded the coalition Convergência Ampla de Salvação de Angola - Coligação Eleitoral (CASA-CE ).

In 2019, he was removed from the presidency by the constituent parties of the coalition for alleged "breach of trust" and in August he began the process of legalizing his new political formation, PRA-JA Servir Angola.

The process of legalizing PRA-JA Servir Angola has dragged on since August 2019, with successive "failures" from the Constitutional Court, alleging irregularities in the documentation presented for this purpose.
