PR says that the Executive is “attacking” the devaluation of the national currency with due serenity

João Lourenço, who was speaking at the opening of the Economic and Social Council Meeting, at the Presidential Palace, also said that the Executive needs to be cold-blooded to calmly carry out objective analyzes and take the necessary courageous measures to reverse the economic crisis.

:

"In these situations, everyone scolds, but no one is right", he stressed.

With regard to the value of the national currency, he clarified that the exchange rate of the kwanza in relation to the dollar varies depending on the supply/demand relationship and other variables in the economy.

"For this reason, there will always be times when national currencies will be stronger, that is, valued, but there will be other times when they will be weaker and, therefore, devalued," he said.

João Lourenço highlighted that through measures that should not be administrative, governments seek to keep their currencies strong, especially in the case of Angola, a country that annually spends large sums of currency on importing goods that must be produced locally.

Regarding fiscal policies, the President of the Republic stressed that governments, when establishing the value of taxes, always seek to find a balance point that does not suffocate families and companies, but that also contributes to raising sufficient financial resources for the coffers. of the State who have great responsibilities and, therefore, large expenses to be incurred.

"All of this comes from taxes. Even so, the Executive decided to lower VAT on the most commonly consumed essential food items, a matter that will be taken up in due course by the National Assembly, as it involves changing a law", he clarified.

President João Lourenço stated that the correct diagnosis to face the current situation that concerns everyone has already been carried out and the correct answer has been found.

"We just need to make it actually happen. We need to diversify our economy, considerably increase the production of goods and services, diversify and increase the sources of foreign exchange collection", he pointed out.

For João Lourenço, the country should not accept the reality of excessive dependence on crude oil export revenues in 48 years of national Independence and 21 years of effective peace.

The President of the Republic also defended the need to expand the range of export products, preferably manufactured ones, with added value, to sell at a better price and guarantee local employment, especially for youth.

João Lourenço also highlighted that in addition to the important mineral resources, arable land, rivers with permanent water, regular rainfall, good climate, forests, savannah and desert rich in biodiversity, the country has hospitable people, rich culture, good cuisine and stunning landscapes that must necessarily attract tourism.

According to the Head of State, what is missing depends only on businessmen, who must have the wisdom to see and explore business opportunities in this very important branch of the national economy.

"Let us make the most of our beaches, our sun, our seven wonders, our parks and natural reserves, for the leisure of our national citizens and foreign tourists and for the benefit of tour operators and collection of foreign exchange revenue", advised.
