"In these moments, there are messages of encouragement, congratulations and wishing him the best of luck personally and for the people and the sister Republic of Angola. These are our sincere wishes, because the better the development and experience in Angola, the better for all because we are all located in the same region and this also allows opportunities to look to the future", said Carlos Vila Nova, at Nuno Xavier airport, in São Tomé.
The Sao Tome President said that he will attend the inauguration ceremony with the "feeling that everything is going well and that the next exercise will be a successful exercise for the President [João Lourenço], personally, as well as for the sister Republic of Angola and for all your people."
Asked by Lusa about the post-election situation in Angola, Carlos Vila Nova said he believed that "Angolans will know how to overcome this stage".
"I see it naturally, because these feelings and these situations are typical of an electoral act and there are mechanisms, there are regulations that allow these situations to be resolved, therefore, dialogue prevails and I am absolutely sure that Angolans will know how to overcome this stage", said the Sao Tome President.
Carlos Vila Nova continued his journey to Luanda on the same TAAG flight on which Cape Verdean President José Maria Neves traveled, who made a stopover in São Tomé.
São Tomé and Príncipe is five days away from the electoral campaign for the legislative, regional and municipal elections on 25 September.
The President of the Republic underlined that the "act of the 25th will be reflected during the next four years" of the country, so he hopes "that everyone is aware of that, act in conscience, participate in the party and that everything goes with harmony and peace ".
"I want to remind everyone that the electoral campaign for the next elections is a moment of celebration for democracy, and I have had the feeling that things are going well and I warn everyone, especially voters, to celebrate, but listen carefully to the messages and vote with conscience", said Carlos Vila Nova.
