CASA-CE rejects results and is “in solidarity” with “victims of electoral fraud”

The Broad Convergence for the Salvation of Angola - Electoral Coalition (CASA-CE) reaffirmed this Thursday that it does not recognize the electoral results of the last general elections and expressed solidarity with the competing political forces “victims of the electoral fraud of 24 August 2022”.

CASA-CE was the third largest political force in parliament, but suffered a heavy defeat in the elections, losing all its mandates.

In a statement released this Thursday following a meeting of the Presidential College, which analyzed the ruling 768/2022, issued by the Constitutional Court, the coalition "firmly" reiterated its position of not recognizing the final election results released by the National Electoral Commission and considered "unfair" the decision of the Constitutional Court that dismissed his claim.

The TC plenary rejected the appeal - with a vote against by Judge Josefa Neto - claiming that CASA-CE did not comply with the procedure, since access to this court in the context of electoral disputes depends on the submission of a prior complaint to the CNE, and that the total number of votes claimed was not sufficient for the attribution of a mandate in the National Assembly".

"Faced with the imperative and patriotic need to continue to fight for the restoration of electoral truth, CASA-CE guarantees to take a firm stand, through a deep reflection of the Presidential College to take place in the coming days", adds CASA-CE.

The statement ends by reiterating CASA-CE's "total solidarity" with competing political forces, victims of the electoral fraud of August 24, 2022.
