National team consents second defeat in qualifying for the 2020 World Cup

The national football team, led by Portuguese Pedro Gonçalves, lost this Tuesday against Libya, by 1-0, in Luanda, in a game of the second round of group F qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar, in 2022.

Al Khoja, in the 42nd minute, scored the only goal of the match, against the run of play.

With this defeat, the second in a row, the Angolan team remains in the last position of the group, without any points.

Despite the defeat, Pedro Gonçalves highlighted his dominance throughout the 90 minutes of play.

"I think we dominated the game, we were the best team on the field. We are a team for the future, we conceded the goal at a difficult moment in the game. We have to be strong, because we have a lot to improve. We will have to reflect deeply on what we want for the future of football in Angola," he said.

In turn, the captain of the national team, Bastos, lamented the defeat.

In the first round, the Angolans lost against Egypt, in Cairo, by 1-0. Angola returns to play on 6 October against Gabon, for the third round.

Libya leads Group F with six points, followed by Egypt with four. Gabon has one point, while Angola has yet to score any point.
