Covid-19: Angola registered 419 cases and 20 deaths in the last 24 hours

Angola registered 419 new cases of covid-19, 20 deaths, the highest daily number since the beginning of the pandemic in the country, and 70 recoveries from the disease, in the last 24 hours, disclosed this Wednesday the health authorities.

According to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Health Directorate, cases of the disease have been confirmed in the provinces of Luanda (303), Benguela (43), Huambo (18), Cuando Cubango (14), Huíla (14), Cabinda (nine ), Uíge (seven), Namibe (five), Lunda Sul (two), Zaire (two), Cunene (one) and Malanje (one), aged between 1 month and 93 years, 218 males and 201 of the feminine.

The deaths, 16 men and four women, aged between 23 and 90, were reported in Benguela (seven), Luanda (three), Cuando Cubango, Moxico, Namibe, Huambo (two each), Bengo and Cunene (one).

Persons considered to have recovered from the disease, aged 7 to 68, were notified in the provinces of Benguela (15), Huambo (15), Malanje (14), Huíla (11), Luanda (five), Cuando Cubango (four), Namibe and Moxico (three).

The country accounts for 53,387 positive cases, 1434 deaths, 46,252 recovered from the disease and 5701 active, of which 39 in critical condition, 50 severe, 174 moderate, 93 mild and 5345 asymptomatic.

There are 356 patients in hospital, 188 people in institutional quarantine and 3199 contacts are under epidemiological surveillance.

The laboratories processed 3242 samples by RT-PCR during the period under analysis, making a cumulative total of 972,316 processed samples with a positivity rate of 5.5 percent.

Covid-19 has caused at least 4,705,691 deaths worldwide, out of more than 229.48 million infections with the new coronavirus recorded since the start of the pandemic, according to the latest report by the Agence France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the United Kingdom, India, South Africa, Brazil or Peru.
