Covid-19: Angola with 324 new cases and five deaths in the last 24 hours

Angola registered 324 new infections, five deaths, and 76 recoveries from the disease in the last 24 hours, health authorities said Tuesday.

According to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health, the confirmed cases were registered in Luanda (178), Huambo (69), Cabinda (17), Huíla (15), Uíge (15), Namibe (10), Zaire (seven), Cuando Cubango (four), Malanje, Moxico (three), Bié (two) and Cunene (one), with ages between 1 month and 93 years, being 188 males and 136 females.

As for the deaths, of which two males and three females, aged between 34 and 76 years, three were reported in Namibe, one in Huambo and one in Uige, while the cases considered recovered were reported 24 in Luanda, 23 in Bié, 18 in Huila, six in Namibe, three in Moxico, one in Benguela and one in Lunda Sul, aged between 1 and 88 years.

The country has a total of 52.968 positive cases, 1414 deaths, 46.182 recovered from the disease and 5372 active, of which 38 in critical condition, 47 serious, 171 moderate, 95 light and 5021 asymptomatic.

There are 352 people hospitalized, 202 in institutional quarantine and 3199 contacts under epidemiological surveillance.

The laboratories processed 3294 samples by RT-PCR, bringing the cumulative to 969,074 samples processed, with a positivity rate of 5.5 percent.

Covid-19 has caused at least 4,696,559 deaths worldwide, among more than 229.01 million infections of the new coronavirus recorded since the start of the pandemic, according to the most recent tally by Agence France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the United Kingdom, India, South Africa, Brazil or Peru.
