Covid-19: Angola announces 235 new cases and ten more deaths

Angola recorded, in the last 24 hours, 235 more covid-19 infections, bringing the total to 49,349, as well as ten deaths and 109 people recovered, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health.

The new cases were identified in Luanda (126), Huíla (23), Benguela (21), Cabinda (19), Namibe (14), Huambo (10), Bié (7), Uíge (4), Zaire (4), Malanje (3), Cunene (2), Kwanza Sul (1) and Lunda Sul (1) with ages between 10 months and 82 years, 148 males and 87 females.

In this period 10 deaths were reported, five male and an equal number female, and 109 people were recovered.

The laboratories processed 2284 samples by RT-PCR in a cumulative total of 932,222, with a positivity rate of 5.3 percent.

Angola totals 49,349 cases, of which 44,302 recovered, 3738 active, and 1309 deaths.

The covid-19 has caused at least 4,583,765 deaths worldwide, among more than 221.81 million infections by the new coronavirus recorded since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the latest balance of the agency France-Presse.

In Portugal, since March 2020, 17,826 people have died and 1,050,719 confirmed cases of infection have been counted, according to data from the Directorate General of Health.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the United Kingdom, India, South Africa, Brazil or Peru.
