Covid-19: Angola registers 134 more cases and 12 deaths

Angola registered, in the last 24 hours, 134 more cases of covid-19, 12 deaths and 189 people recovered from the disease, announced the Minister of Health, Silvia Lutucuta.

Of the cases, 85 are from Luanda, nine from Huíla, eight from Uíge, six from Cuando Cubango, six from Namibe, five from Bié, four from Cabinda, three from Huambo and three from Zaire, two from Cunene and one each from the provinces of Lunda Sul, Malanje and Moxico.

The ages range from 11 months to 98 years, with 75 males and 59 females.

There were 12 deaths with ages ranging from 17 to 85 years, 8 males and 4 females, and 189 people aged 1 to 88 years were recovered.

Angola counts 48,790 cases, including 1282 deaths, 44,054 recovered and 3454 active cases, with more than 2 million doses of vaccine administered to date.

Covid-19 has caused at least 4,565,622 deaths worldwide, among more than 220.65 million infections by the new coronavirus recorded since the start of the pandemic, according to the latest balance of the agency France-Presse.

In Portugal, since March 2020, 17,810 people have died and 1,047,710 confirmed cases of infection have been counted, according to data from the Directorate General of Health.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the United Kingdom, India, South Africa, Brazil or Peru.
