Targeted in the CNC Case (National Council of Chargers), the former TCUL PCA is already in the country, having arrived in Luanda on Tuesday.
According to Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA), in 2018, Abel Cosme fled to Portugal, claiming to have to treat heart problems. Since then, he was wanted by the angolan justice system.
Abel Cosme was a defendant in the CNC Case and should have been tried in 2019, however, he was on the run in Portugal.
In January 2021, the portuguese authorities arrested the former Chairman of TCUL and at the request of the Attorney General's Office he was extradited to Angola.
The CNC Case has as its central figure the former Minister of Transport, Augusto da Silva Tomás, who was sentenced to 14 years in prison for crimes of embezzlement, money laundering, criminal association, among others.
The former director of the CNC, Manuel António Paulo, was also sentenced to 10 years in prison.
