Covid-19: Angola with five more dead approaches 4000 infected

The authorities announced this Sunday another 90 cases of covid-19 and five deaths, with the total of infected approaching 4000.

Among the new cases, two are from Cabinda and 88 from Luanda and the ages of the patients vary between 3 and 89 years, 47 male and 43 female, detailed the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda.

Two men and three women, four angolans and one eritrean, 36, 45, 48, 58 and 79 years old died from the disease, all from Luanda.

The country has 3991 cases of covid-19, of which 152 died and 2394 were ill in the active phase, with one in critical condition and 11 in severe condition, the rest being recovered.

The laboratories have processed 1493 samples, an accumulated 74,639 to date, added Franco Mufinda.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused almost 958,000 deaths worldwide since December last year, including 1912 in Portugal and 33,818 in Africa, in a total of almost 1.4 million infected in 55 countries.

Among the African countries that have Portuguese as their official language, Angola leads in number of deaths and Mozambique in number of cases. Angola has 152 deaths and 3991 cases, followed by Equatorial Guinea (83 deaths and 5002 cases), Cape Verde (51 deaths and 5257 cases), Mozambique (41 deaths and 6537 cases), Guinea-Bissau (39 deaths and 2303 cases) and São Tomé and Príncipe (15 deaths and 908 cases).
