Angola has a total of 3217 infected, with 1277 recovered, 130 deaths, and 1810 active patients, including three in critical condition and 25 severe.

In the last 24 hours 794 samples were processed by RT-PCR (molecular biology tests) out of a cumulative total of 62,332 processed samples.

During the balance sheet presentation, the Governor addressed the inauguration of the Laboratory Diagnostic Center of Viana, by the Minister of State and Head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, which will have "capacity to process 6000 samples per day", divided by 3000 RT-PCR tests and 3000 serological tests.

According to Franco Mufinda, at the national level Angola is now able to analyze "around 3700 samples of RT-PCR and 3200 samples of serology" daily.

With the increase in testing capacity, the ruler noted that this could translate into an increase in the number of cases identified.

"When the capacity increases, what is expected, in fact, is that, for the same reason, we will have the number of new cases to increase. We must prepare ourselves psychologically," he pointed out.

During the presentation of the data, Franco Mufinda reiterated the call for compliance with prevention measures, in particular the use of face protection masks.

"Here we will emphasize the use of the mask in any public place, common transportation, markets, hospitals, restaurants, places where there are population gatherings. The means of protection is the use of the mask. It's the barrier that protects us," stressed the Secretary of State, concluding that covid-19 is "a problem of individual and collective responsibility.

In Africa, there are 31,902 confirmed deaths in more than 1.3 million people infected in 55 countries, according to the most recent statistics on the pandemic there.
