The center, which is located in the Special Economic Zone of Viana, is considered the largest laboratory of molecular biology and serology in the country.
The laboratory consists of a reagent preparation room, a sample reception room, an amplification room, a collection room, a serology room and also a rest area for the workers.
According to Angop, the infrastructure cost about seven million dollars.
With capacity to perform 3000 'RPCR' and 3000 'Elisa' tests, the center was set up by the Chinese company BGI, and the installation was led by a young Angolan.
The minister took the opportunity to reveal that three more laboratories of this type are also planned to be set up in Huambo, Lunda Norte and Uíge.
"This will allow, in the context of covid-19, to direct our actions, to develop sustainable and safe measures to, gradually, balance the health/economy relationship and strengthen the confidence of people and institutions," she said, quoted by Angop.
However, Silvia Lutucuta stressed that the increase in testing capacity is not synonymous with the relief of protection measures against the virus.
