"Normal category precipitation is expected in almost the entire national territory" for October, November and December 2020, said INAMET specialist, António Lameira Gaspar, in a videoconference from Luanda, where he presented the seasonal forecast for the next six months.

However, rainfall above average values may occur in some provinces, such as the western part of the northern Lunda and much of the province of Uíje.

For January, February and March 2021, the trend of normal precipitation or above average values is maintained, with a trend below normal in the southern provinces.

In terms of impact on agriculture and livestock, October, November and December will be favorable months for crop production, but the expert recommended paying attention to the authorities' warnings regarding weather events.

“As for the south, a region with a lot of livestock activity, we guarantee that there will be enough water”, said the person in charge of INAMET, also pointing out the increase in the flow of rivers and the consequent “good energy production”.

The meteorologist also alluded to the risk of disasters associated with extreme precipitation, including damage to infrastructure, displacement of populations, collapse of houses, the possibility of hail and possible implications for disease outbreaks due to excessive rain.

This is a first projection, he added, explaining that the information will be updated.
