The country's inclusion in this year's edition was announced by Lina Coelho, Luso-Africa coordinator of the Africa Tourism Awards (The Balearica Awards), during a meeting held this Thursday with the Minister of Tourism, Márcio Daniel.

At the meeting, she clarified that Angola's nomination was due to its tourism potential, as well as recent advances in the tourism sector.

"During the meeting, the representative stated that Angola was nominated due to its tourism potential and recent advances in the sector, emphasizing that this is the first time the country has participated in the prestigious international award dedicated to recognizing excellence in the African tourism sector, alongside other leading African destinations," reads a statement from the Ministry of Tourism, that VerAngola had access to.

The Minister of Tourism expressed his satisfaction with the distinction.

"Minister Márcio Daniel expressed satisfaction with the award, considering the nomination of Angolan professionals an important milestone in recognizing national talent," the statement reads.

On the occasion, the minister also advocated for "the inclusion of more nominations for Angola, recognizing the existence of several qualified professionals in different areas of the sector."

This year's awards ceremony is scheduled for November 2nd in London, England, "and for the first time will feature the inclusion of Portuguese-speaking countries, including Angola, recognized for its growing visibility in tourism and strategic commitment to economic diversification," the ministry's statement concludes.
