According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Téte António received the Chinese ambassador, Zhang Bin, and discussed the status of "bilateral cooperation (...), with an emphasis on the various sectors of the Angolan economy."
"Angola and China intend to organize a business meeting in Luanda soon to explore their potential to promote economic diversification and technology transfer," the same statement read.
Minister Téte António emphasized the importance of Chinese investments "in Angola's economic reconstruction and development process."
In turn, the Chinese ambassador reiterated the Chinese government's continued support for Angola's efforts to achieve sustainable development goals, expressing satisfaction with the level of political dialogue and mutual trust between Luanda and Beijing, the statement explained.
On June 19, the new headquarters of the Chinese embassy in Angola was officially inaugurated in Luanda, in the municipality of Ingombota.
The new headquarters, according to the document seen by Lusa, "is seen as a reinforcement of China's long-term commitment to Angola and signals the diversification of cooperation into areas such as renewable energy, the green economy, artificial intelligence, and trade."
"In 2024, trade volume between the two countries reached approximately 20.8 billion dollars, and China is recognized as Angola's main trading partner and investor outside of the oil sector," he concluded.
