According to a government statement, to which VerAngola had access, this initiative is the result of the commitment made by the First Lady, "at the time of the school's inauguration in 2007, to contribute to its maintenance and to raising the quality of education".
To set up the classrooms in question, Ana Dias Lourenço, "designated godmother of the school", had the support of "local authorities and partners such as Huawei, responsible for equipping and updating the equipment".
According to the statement, this new computer equipment will enable students to "optimise and use information technologies, which are essential for the challenges of the digital age".
António Hou, president of Huawei for Portuguese-speaking countries, confirmed the donation of 35 computers, computer desks, projectors and other IT materials, adding: "We hope that, through joint efforts with the office of the First Lady of the Republic of Angola and the Angolan government, we can invest in and develop education and expand the path of inclusive development, increasingly broadening the gap to fill the gap as much as possible", he said, quoted by Angop.
The governor of Namibe, Archer Mangueira, also spoke on the occasion. Quoted in a statement from the provincial government of Namibe, to which VerAngola had access, the governor "praised the gesture" of Ana Dias Lourenço, as well as highlighting the "importance of the equipment installed" in the school.
"This creates the conditions to equip students with essential knowledge to face the challenges of the digital age, reconciling theory and practice in automatic information. Furthermore, it will be possible to establish interconnection with remote smart classrooms, as well as in other countries with similar systems", said Archer Mangueira.
The students, in a message read by Etiene Manuel, took the opportunity to thank this offer, having committed to "raising the quality levels of learning".
"Today we witnessed the offer of computer labs, associated with a local Internet network. Thank you very much, godmother, this gift will improve our learning process", she said, quoted in the statement.
It should be recalled that the aforementioned high school was inaugurated by Ana Dias Lourenço, while she was still Minister of Planning and the "request for the equipment of the aforementioned classrooms was made by the students during a visit when she was already First Lady of the Republic".
