According to the minister – quoted in a statement from the Ministry of Education, which VerAngola had access to – the tender documents are currently being prepared.
"The holder of the Education portfolio who was speaking on the sidelines of the methodological seminar for the success of learning the subjects of Portuguese and Mathematics in primary education, reinforced that at the exact moment the tender documents are being prepared and will soon be made public", reads up on the note.
On the occasion, Luísa Grilo said that they were predicting its launch later this month. "We are preparing the tender documents so that we can soon recruit new teachers for all provinces, particularly in primary education and in the first cycle of secondary education. This month we are going to launch it, we are foreseeing the inclusion of 11 thousand teachers", she said, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).
Regarding the seminar, the holder of the Education portfolio said that the intention was to take stock of what "actually happened in the 2022/2023 academic year".
"In these two days, we want to take stock of what actually happened in the 2022/2023 school year. More than the results, whether it passed or not, it's positive, it's not, it's actually knowing what they learned and the quality of what they learned and the other objective is to change the current situation that everyone claims that children finish the fourth grade and don't know how to read, there are those who say that they finish the eighth grade and don't know how to read or write, we are going to fight for that to actually change, with this group of teachers who come from different provinces", she indicated, quoted by RNA.
It should be noted that, roughly a year ago, a strengthening of the Education sector in Namibe province was announced, with the hiring of 400 new teachers.
Already in general terms, a total of 2688 citizens entered the civil service from 2022 until May of this year.
