Mitrelli wins contracts worth 564 million dollars to build new dams

The company Owini Swiss, of the Israeli group Mitrelli, won, by direct agreement, three new contracts for the construction of dams in Namibe province, worth approximately 564 million dollars.

According to presidential order 188/23, consulted by Lusa, the construction of the dams is justified with the drought phenomena that affect that southern province, being authorized the expense and opening of a simplified contracting procedure "for reasons of external financing".

The design and construction of the Carunjamba dam will cost approximately 156 million dollars, the Giraúl dam will cost 168 million dollars and the Inamangando dam will cost 240 million dollars.

The Minister of Energy and Water will be responsible for approving the parts of the procedure and signing the contracts and the Minister of Finance must register the projects in the Public Investment Program and ensure the financial resources to implement the contracts.
