Basic basket goods prices drop 38.5 percent this week

Forecasts from the Strategic Food Reserve (REA) indicate that this week (1st to 7th of August) the price of basic basket goods will drop by 38.5 percent, compared to November last year.

Wheat flour leads the list of products that should see a greater price drop. According to REA data, the 25-kilogram package of this product will be sold at 8200 kwanzas, against the previous 23.033 kwanzas, reflecting a drop of 64.4 percent.

Cornmeal is also worthy of note, with a decrease of 56.9 percent. The same amount of this product (25 kilograms) will drop from 13.800 kwanzas to 5950 kwanzas.

In turn, 25 kilograms of thai rice will go from 11.737 kwanzas to 7000 kwanzas, while the same amount of myanmar rice will drop from 10.000 kwanzas to 6600 kwanzas.

According to REA forecasts, 50 kilograms of sugar will cost 18.950 kilograms, against the previous 24.200 kwanzas.

There will also be declines in the prices of soybean oil (12 liters), which will drop from 17.450 kwanzas to 11.100 kwanzas, as well as pinto beans (25 kilograms package), which will drop to 16.000 kwanzas against the previous 24.000 kwanzas.

The data also point out that 10 kilograms of chicken thighs will drop from 10.190 kwanzas to 7850 kwanzas.

According to the REA, these values ​​are valid for the entire country and reflect a general decrease of 38.5 percent compared to November 2021.
