According to a note from the Civil House of the President of the Republic, the decision was taken taking into account that the date coincides with a normal working day (Wednesday) and "it is imperative and indispensable that all voters participate in this exercise of Citizenship and Democracy".
The point tolerance "does not cover workers who work in shifts, without prejudice to the requirement that they be dismissed for the time necessary to exercise their right to vote, under the terms of the legislation in force", adds the note.
Eight political groups compete in the general elections on 24 August, the fifth in Angola's history, in which more than 14 million voters will be able to participate, including, for the first time, residents abroad.
