Speaking to Angolan Public Television, CNE spokesman Lucas Quilundo said that the minutes of the national tabulation had been approved and that the final result would be announced by the chairman of the commission during a formal ceremony yet to be scheduled.
Of the 11,153 votes claimed, 7925 were considered valid. Of these, 4360 were allocated to the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) and 2935 to the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) with the remainder to be distributed to the other parties.
The National Patriotic Alliance (APN) got 67 more votes, the National Front for the Liberation of Angola, 168 more, the Broad Convergence for the Salvation of Angola - Electoral Coalition (CASA-CE), got 73, the Nationalist Party for Justice (P- NJANGO), 54, the Humanist Party of Angola, over 117 and the Social Renewal Party, over 148.
3228 invalid votes were also identified.
The announcement was made at the end of a plenary meeting that lasted until dawn and where the votes claimed were considered and the summary minutes of the provincial electoral commissions were approved.
With the conclusion of the tabulation, the CNE will notify the political parties and produce two minutes, one for the President of the Republic and another addressed to the Constitutional Court (TC).
Parties will have 72 hours to submit complaints to the TC, which also has 72 hours to respond.
On Friday, UNITA contested a possible victory for the MPLA, indicating that it was carrying out a parallel vote count, based on summary minutes from the country's 18 provinces.
According to data previously released by the CNE, when 97.03 percent of the votes in the elections held last Wednesday were counted, the MPLA won the general elections with 51.07 percent, followed by UNITA with 44.05 percent of the votes.
According to these data, the MPLA with 3,162,801 votes, one million fewer ballots scrutinized than in 2017, when it obtained 4,115,302 votes, elects 124 deputies.
UNITA, on the other hand, has 90 parliamentary seats, electing deputies in 17 of the 18 provinces and obtaining a historic victory in Luanda, the largest province in the country, obtaining so far 2,727,885 votes, while in 2017 it had obtained 1,800,860 favorable ballots.
However, the UNITA leader on Friday contested the MPLA's victory and asked for an international commission to compare the electoral records held by the party with those of the CNE.
