"Angola holds its fifth general elections on the 24th of August, with point tolerance having been decreed throughout the national territory; it is recommended to adopt a vigilant posture, not being able to attend large groups of people", reads in the notice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Portuguese in that African country.

According to the Portal das Comunidades Portuguesas page, the Portuguese must keep themselves informed and follow "the instructions that may be defined by the local authorities in this period".

The French counterpart also recommended attention to its emigrants in Angola, noting in a note that "given the risk of incidents, it is advisable to exercise extreme vigilance, to stay away from any agglomeration and, if possible, avoid unnecessary travel".

As the results will only be released until 8 September, on the page of the French consular section in Angola it is said that "in this context, it is likely that spontaneous or organized rallies or demonstrations of varying sizes will take place before, during or after the elections, in several places in the capital and/or the country".

China also warned its compatriots about the effect of potential electoral instability on its citizens, advising them to reduce "abroad activities" due to the "increasing instability and uncertainty of the security situation" caused by the general election campaign.

According to the newspaper HojeMacau, the embassy warned the Chinese through the social network WeChat, recommending that they pay "close attention to the local security situation before and after the elections, in addition to strengthening protection and surveillance".

The communiqué also suggested that Chinese residents in Angola "avoid going to sensitive or crowded places", as well as holding all kinds of events or participating in electoral actions.

More than 14 million Angolans, including those residing abroad, are eligible to vote on 24 August, in what will be the fifth election in the country's history.
