According to CNE spokesman Lucas Quilundo, this was one of the issues analyzed by the plenary of the electoral commission, which was also meeting this Monday to analyze and approve the extension of the deadline for receiving the list of political parties and coalition of parties. politicians competing in the general elections to be held on the 24th of this month.

Lucas Quiundo, without many details, said that the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) party submitted "an inappropriate hierarchical appeal" to obtain the annulment of a deliberation by the CNE plenary on a complaint regarding the understanding that the party has "of the results tabulation structure approved by the CNE, as well as in relation to the quota of observers for the general elections".

"In this regard, after a technical-legal assessment and the necessary framework, the plenary decided not to grant the request", he said.

On the other hand, Lucas Quilundo announced the extension of the deadline, until 3 August, for the registration of list delegates in the system made available by the CNE for this purpose, which ended on 30 July.

The CNE spokesperson underlined that this request for an extension of the deadline was made by the Humanist Party of Angola, competing in this year's general elections, due to operational difficulties with the equipment.

"So that, in order to have the largest number of delegates on the list at polling stations, the plenary unanimously decided to extend the deadline, which thus ends up benefiting even those competing political formations that did not request the deadline", he stressed. .

Lucas Quilundo stressed that provisional information shows that political formations obtained a very high percentage of delegates on the list.
