JLO says youth will decide who wins August 24 elections

The youth vote will be decisive to decide who wins the general elections, considered João Lourenço, speaking this Monday at the opening act of the National Camp for University Students Vacation (CANFEU), to take place from 1 to 4 August.

According to the head of state, the outcome of the elections will be decided by the youth, as this layer corresponds to the largest share of the country's population.

"The main team doesn't need to enter the field, the juniors solve the problem, and the juniors are you, it's the youth, because effectively who will determine the course of this electoral dispute is, without a shadow of a doubt, our youth, which constitutes the vast majority of our population", said the MPLA candidate for President of the Republic.

According to Angop, João Lourenço also took the opportunity to recall that young people must act in a massive way in the electoral process as well as in moving other young people to the polls.

In his speech, he also highlighted the party's commitment to quality education, also considering that "technical and scientific knowledge represents one of the fundamental pillars", writes Angop.

According to João Lourenço, for a second term, universities will generate knowledge that must be placed at the service of the country and humanity.

"We will make a strong commitment to the promotion of scientific research and the partnership with different foreign counterpart institutions, the permanent and closer dialogue between academia and society that helps to improve people's daily lives is something to which we will give due attention", promised João Lourenço.

The MPLA leader stated that higher education institutions will have the responsibility to guarantee the efficiency and use of the potential of their trainees, especially the younger ones, for the domain of the university sector.

"Scientific research is, therefore, the lever that will allow higher education institutions a greater capacity to establish partnerships, to maintain a permanent, fruitful dialogue with society and the communities where these institutions are inserted", he highlighted.

According to João Lourenço, the MPLA "with this vision will be allowing the objective of having Angolan universities situated among the best in Africa and appearing in the world ranking to become a reality".

"Only those who understand the strategic value of training with this vision speak of training, the MPLA has this vision, has this interest and counts on all of you to continue creating the conditions for this to occur", he stressed.

JMPLA, the youth organization of the MPLA, annually promotes CANFEU - whose motto this year is "university youth, united, let us participate in the general elections" and takes place with a thousand participants - which is a place for reflection, dialogue, exchange of experiences, among others, that brings together the country's university youth as well as students from abroad.
