Inflation drops again to 21.40 percent in July

Inflation fell again for the seventh consecutive month, settling at 21.40 percent in July, the lowest level since April 2020 and corresponding to a year-on-year decline of 4.32 percentage points.

According to data published by the National Statistics Institute (INE), the National Consumer Price Index registered a variation of 0.81 percent from June to July 2022, a deceleration of 0.03 percentage points, in monthly terms.

The variation accumulated since the beginning of the year reached 9.38 percent.

In year-on-year terms, the category "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" contributed the most to the increase in the general level of prices, with 0.36 percentage points during the month of July, followed by "Education" with 0.08 percentage points, "Miscellaneous goods and services" with 0.07 percentage points, "Clothing and Footwear", "Health" and "Furniture, Household Equipment and Maintenance" with 0.06 percentage points each.

The "Education" class registered the biggest monthly price increase, with a variation of 3.50 percent in July compared to the previous month. .68 percent, "Health" with 1.64 percent and "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" with 1.40 percent.
