Derailment at Luanda Railroad results in one injured person and damages to the line

The derailment of a train of the Luanda Railroad (CFL) caused this Wednesday injuries to a person and damaged 60 meters of the line, the company said.

A note said the accident occurred at 11am, with the train that was carrying out maintenance work on the railway line at kilometer 328+100, between the localities of Cambunze and Kinzenga, in Cacuso municipality, in Malanje province.

The document stresses that the locomotive and the support carriage overturned as a result of the derailment, and that one of the technicians was slightly injured and was taken to Malanje regional hospital.

Despite the accident, the note points out, the railway circulation between the two provinces is not interrupted and the trains will circulate in the place with the due regulatory precautions.

The causes of the accident have not yet been identified, and a commission of inquiry is on its way to the site to determine what caused the disaster, and a technical team to begin the work of removing the damaged equipment.

The CFL, with a length of 479 kilometers, connects the provinces of Luanda, Kwanza Norte and Malanje.
