With the data from the last 24 hours, the country now totals 46,076 cases, 1163 deaths, with a case fatality rate of 2.5 percent, meaning an increase of 0.1 percent compared to last week, 42,624 recovered and 2289 active cases, of which eight in critical condition, 28 severe, 71 moderate, 32 mild and 2150 asymptomatic, with 139 patients in hospital, 222 others in institutional quarantine and under epidemiological surveillance 814 contacts.

Regarding the deaths recorded in ages between 20 and 74 years, seven are men and three women, four occurred in the province of Huila, two in Moxico, one in Cuando Cubango, one in Luanda, one in Lunda Sul and one in Lunda Norte.

As for the recoveries, 240 people were notified, between two months and 84 years, being 124 in Luanda, 26 in Lunda Sul, 21 in Bié, 20 in Huambo, 18 in Lunda Norte, 15 in Moxico, six in Cunene, four in Cuando Cubango, three in Zaire, two in Benguela and one in Cabinda.

Franco Mufinda made a weekly comparison, between the 9th and 16th of this month and between the 16th and 23rd of August, about the indicators recovered cases and deaths.

According to the Secretary of State for Public Health, in the week from the 6th to the 16th 984 cases were registered, against 1345 in the following week, with a positive differential of 361 cases, that is, an increase of 36.7 percent.

On recoveries, the data indicate that there was a change between the two weeks, with 1051 this week versus 1006 last week, with a difference of 45 recovered, which represents a 4.5 percent increase.

As for covid-19 deaths, there were 60 this week versus 50 last week, with ten more deaths recorded, representing a 20 percent increase.

"And we begin to have weekly, unfortunately, the increase of deaths, with emphasis in the east and south of the country, we call once again for the redoubling of measures," said the ruler.

The governor stressed that on May 26th last, the highest number of new daily cases was reported, which were 405 at that time, which was in "full second wave", starting to decline on May 31st.

"Unfortunately, despite the reversal that was observed after May 31 and recovery of some people, we are still starting to feel the resistance of this wave, I am referring to the second wave, compared to the first wave, which had a low amplitude and we were able to decline more quickly," he said.

According to Franco Mufinda, in the second wave the health authorities have felt "its weight", and the amplitude by now compared to the two months that separate from its emergence to date, represents about 72 percent, compared to the first wave.

"It is still imprudent to shy away from individual and collective protection measures, which we call for their compliance coupled with vaccination to have control of this pandemic. The situation of the variants leads us to have more deaths, so despite the observation of the measures and vaccination, remembering that the pandemic is still there, "he said.

In the period under review, 4668 PCR tests were also processed, pointing the cumulative to 886,180 samples to date, with a cumulative positivity rate of 5.2 percent.

At the entry and exit points of Luanda, 377 people were tested, being 306 men and 71 women, with four confirmed cases.

As for the vaccination, 26,728 doses were administered this Monday, making a total of 1,868,651 doses, since March 2, the date of the beginning of the vaccination campaign in Angola.

At this time, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Sinopharm and Sputinik V vaccines are being administered throughout the country.

Franco Mufinda appealed to the population to get vaccinated, especially for the second dose, where there has been little compliance.

Since January 16, 91,042 passengers have been tested at the international airport, 174 of whom tested positive.

The covid-19 has caused at least 4,430,846 deaths worldwide, among more than 211.7 million infections by the new coronavirus recorded since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the latest balance of the agency France-Presse.
