Covid-19: Angola with 108 new cases and six deaths in the last 24 hours

Angola has registered 108 new cases of covid-19, six deaths and 146 recoveries from the disease, in the last 24 hours, says the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health released this Wednesday.

Cases were reported in 11 provinces of the country, with Luanda leading the list, being 71 males and 37 females, aged between 2 and 87 years.

As for the deaths, two were reported in the province of Lunda Norte, two in Moxico and one in Cunene, being five men and one woman, between 18 and 75 years old.

The authorities announced the recovery of 35 patients in Cunene, 34 in Lunda Norte, 30 in Lunda Sul, 19 in Moxico, 13 in Huambo, eight in Huila, five in Luanda and two in Benguela, with ages ranging from 1 to 83 years.

For now, Angola counts 43,998 positive cases, 1063 deaths, 40,809 considered recovered and 2126 active, of which 11 are critical, 25 severe, 75 moderate, 32 mild and 1983 asymptomatic, with 143 people in hospital, 226 in institutional quarantine and 740 contacts under epidemiological surveillance.

The laboratories processed in the last 24 hours 2839 samples by RT-PCR, pointing the cumulative to 844,546 samples processed to date, with a positivity rate of 5.2 percent.

At the entry and exit points of Luanda, 445 people were tested in the same period, on the basis of the antigen test.

The covid-19 has caused at least 4,314,196 deaths worldwide, among more than 203.9 million infections by the new coronavirus recorded since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the latest balance of the agency France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the United Kingdom, India, South Africa, Brazil or Peru.
