Covid-19: country received 165,000 doses of Janssen vaccines

Angola received the first 165,600 doses of vaccines against covid-19, from the pharmaceutical company Janssen, of the Johnson & Johnson group, acquired by the Government through an African Union platform.

According to the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, authorities intend to vaccinate 54 percent of the population, and these vaccines are expected to be administered in the provinces of Cunene, Cuando Cubango, Huíla and Namibe.

"These vaccines will make it easier for us to vaccinate, above all transhumant or even nomadic populations, we have already surveyed the people we have in this condition and in the next few days we will be able to start the vaccination process", said Franco Mufinda, in statements to the press, broadcast by radio Angolan public

Franco Mufinda stressed that each vaccine, with a single dose, was purchased at a cost of 7.5 dollars.

This is the first batch of vaccines to arrive in Angola, on a monthly basis, by September 2022, informed the representative of Afreximbank, Humphrey Nwungo, noting that two billion dollars of guarantee were made available for the production of vaccines by Janssen.
