Secretary General of the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries confirms participation in Angola Oil and Gas

Yury Sentyurin is the latest confirmed speaker at Angola Oil and Gas (AOG) 2021, and will lead discussions on the importance of accelerating the energy transition in Africa through more significant investment in gas monetization, LNG production and intra-African trade of gas.

The third Secretary General of the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries and was appointed at the 19th Ministerial Meeting in Moscow, Russia, in January 2018. Yury Sentyurin is considered an experienced diplomat and will bring his vision of the future to AOG 2021 natural gas within the energy transition and sustainable solutions for the monetization of this resource. He will lead critical discussions on the importance of accelerating the energy transition in Africa, with a focus on gas as a critical resource for economic growth on the continent.

The secretary general is optimistic about the positive developments in sub-Saharan Africa and believes that Angola has made significant progress in the gas monetization sector. The Angolan government's efforts in this area are reflected in the investment interest of local and international companies in downstream initiatives.

"The participation of Yury Sentyurin in AOG 2021 honors us and raises the level of the discussions that will take place at this historic event. His contributions will be invaluable to the debate on the future of gas in Angola, its role in the country's economic diversification and in the path to a cleaner and more sustainable energy transition", says João Gaspar Marques, director of the International Conference of Energy Capital and Power (ECP), organizer of the AOG 2021 conference, in a statement sent to VerAngola.

The organization describes AOG 2021 as "Africa's most anticipated energy event in 2021", considering it a unique, transformative and sector-empowering platform by promoting the networking, negotiation and investment partnerships that will drive growth and success of the energy sector in Angola.

The conference takes place at the Talatona Convention Center (CCTA) in Luanda, from 9 to 10 September.

Organized by the ECP and with the support of the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, AOG 2021 is said to be committed to accelerating the growth of Angola's energy sector in the post-COVID-19 period.
