Vera Daves de Sousa considered the possibility of the State resorting to arbitration and judicial bodies, if the entities that sold assets under the State Privatization Program (Propiv) do not comply with the stipulated payments.
The minister revealed, in the same webinar, that there are already entities that have sold assets and are in default with the established payment schedule. She also emphasized that in this way they removed opportunities from other entities that could be complying with the agreement.
Target for privatizations will not be met
The Minister of Finance also reviewed the situation of the Privatization Program in the country, noting that 39 assets were privatized between 2019 and 2020, with 133 scheduled for the period 2021/2022, a goal that will not be possible to meet.
"For the most part, we are still going to be able to complete the privatization. In a smaller number of cases, we will probably not be able to achieve privatization in this two years," stated Vera Daves, quoted by the Market.
The "fault", referred to the minister, is in the restructuring of companies. These are "initial public offerings, in some cases from large public companies that are undergoing reorganization and restructuring, as in the case of Sonangol and Endiama, which certainly will take more time for the privatization process", she explained.
Despite all the setbacks, the minister said that "the objective is to do the process well, without haste". The most important thing, she stressed, is to "evaluate the quality of those who are acquiring and their ability to invest or reinvest in the asset".
