Generals Kopelipa and Dino's assets are going to be privatized

Companies handed over by the generals Helder Vieira Dias "Kopelipa" and Leopoldino Fragoso do Nascimento "Dino" to the Attorney General's Office (PGR) will be privatized. In total five companies will strengthen the list of assets to be privatized: the breweries, cement factories, logistics, car assembly factories and the printing company Damer.

According to presidential decree 182/21, quoted by Expansão, the process of alienation of the companies that in the past belonged to the generals should begin this year.

The printing company Damer opened its doors in 2008 and is still operating. Located in Talatona, the print shop is the result of an investment of 35 million dollars. The remaining factories are stopped.

The cement plant had an investment of 800 million dollars while the beer factory resulted from an investment of 180 million dollars, writes Expansão.

Despite the sale of these assets, experts cited by Expansão, consider that given the current state of the assets, the state will not be able to recover the money invested in the assets.

"In the state in which these companies are, with the exception of Damer, they will hardly be sold at the price they cost, to recover what was spent in setting them up. We have already experienced this scenario with the privatization of some companies in the Special Economic Zone where the amount raised was far from what IGAPE wanted," considered the economist José Serôdio, cited by Expansão.

It should be remembered that last year the generals handed over a number of companies and buildings to the National Service for Asset Recovery. The assets thus became "part, definitively, of the State's patrimonial sphere.
