Without a contract for four years, 70 workers from Sonangol Distribuidora make themselves heard on strike

There are around 70 Sonangol Distribuidora workers who have been on strike for two weeks. The employees, who provide services at a company gas station in Luanda, claim to have been without an employment contract for more than four years.

:

According to Jones Damião, representative of workers affiliated to the Union of Organized Workers in the Petroleum and Related Sector of Angola (STOSPA), there is a “mafia” that manages more than seven jobs under these conditions. All are located in the capital.

“We are on strike due to working on a direct-managed bomb from Sonangol, on the way to four years and without a work contract. We contacted Sonangol, who responded by saying that he will give us compensation and we rejected it, ”explained the workers' representative, quoted by VOA.

The unionist re-affirms the existence of a "mafia" behind these actions, saying that the workers will "die at the post", if Sonangol does not present a "satisfactory answer".

Sonangol Distribuidora was contacted without success.
