Angola makes its debut on the wrong foot at CHAN 2025 after losing to Morocco

Angola debuted with a defeat in its opening match at the African Cup of Nations (CHAN 2025). The national football team faced Morocco on Sunday, losing 2-0.

In the first round of Group A of the CHAN tournament, Angola was unable to overcome the Moroccan team, which benefited from an own goal by Angola's Kinito.

The Moroccans opened the scoring with a goal by Imad Riahi in the 29th minute.

The match went into halftime with Morocco leading 1-0.

In the second half, the 'Palancas Negras' were unable to close the gap, even extending their opponent's lead with an own goal.

Near the end of the match, Kinito scored an own goal (81st minute).

With this result, Angola lost 2-0 to Morocco.

At the CHAN 2025 tournament, which will be held in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, the team is in Group A, which also includes Morocco, Kenya, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

After this defeat, Angola returns to action this Thursday to face Kenya.

The schedule also includes matches on August 10 and 14 against Zambia and the DRC, respectively.
