BNA maintains services with about 35 percent of the staff in face-to-face work

The National Bank of Angola (BNA) announced this Thursday that it is currently working in person with about 35 percent of its staff, due to covid-19, which "forced a change and transformation" focused on employee security.

According to BNA's administrator for Human Capital, Beatriz dos Santos, the 35 percent of the approximately 1700 permanent workers of the institution are now better able to work remotely in order to continue serving and maintaining the circulation of money.

"We had to acquire computers, invest in information security and today we are already able to serve the population with some normality," she said this Thursday in statements to journalists.

During the period of emergency, which took place between 27 March and 25 May, to contain the spread of covid-19 in Angola, the BNA had only 25 percent of its staff working in person.

The official acknowledged that the crisis period, imposed for the pandemic of the new coronavirus, had an impact on the actions of the Angolan central bank, a situation that contributed to the reduction of the number of employees in person.

"We did this by having some people teleworking, we had to very quickly create security conditions, because the issue of information security is also fundamental in the sense of having people working at home have access to information in order to be able to provide service," she stressed.

Beatriz dos Santos spoke on the sidelines of a conference on "Human Capital Management in Times of Crisis" promoted this Thursday in Luanda by the BNA.

The administrator of the Angolan central bank for Human Capital also said that the crisis motivated by covid-19 currently forces organizations to improve their skills, "especially the transformation of human capital.

"Today the path of digital transformation is irreversible, we have managed to have people in the flexibility of work and we have to believe that this crisis has brought improvements to our system and the added value that the crisis has brought we will adapt for the future," she noted.

The National Bank of Angola has also made investments in the field of cyber security, he said, adding: "We continue to work, especially in the protection of our computer systems," he stressed.

Speakers at this conference, which is part of the BNA's Annual Conference Cycle, participated by videoconference.

The adoption of new human capital management models and practices to ensure personal and collective security and business continuity and market competitiveness was the basic foundation of the conference.
