"Anyone who saw the Mabunda Market five months ago will certainly not recognize it," said Luís Nunes, who officially reopened the market on Tuesday.

Quoted in a statement from the Luanda provincial government, to which VerAngola had access, the governor pointed out that the market now has better conditions.

"With great satisfaction, the provincial governor of Luanda, Luís Manuel da Fonseca Nunes, said that, from now on, the Mabunda Market will provide much more dignity to the vendors, better quality products and will attract many more customers," the note reads.

According to the Jornal de Angola, the market has more than 500 stalls, a scaling area, refrigerated containers to preserve the fish and even parking.

In addition to Luís Nunes, the reopening ceremony was also attended by the vice-governor for the Political and Social Area, Manuel António Gonçalves, the vice-governor for the Technical and Infrastructure Area, Calunga Francisco Zage Quissanga, the municipal administrator of Samba, Loide de Faria, as well as provincial directors and the group of contractors for the work, says the provincial government's statement.
