According to a statement from the Ministry of Tourism to which VerAngola had access, among the provinces surveyed, the main destination was Moxico, which recorded a hotel occupancy rate of over 90 percent.
"The province of Moxico stood out as the main destination, with a hotel occupancy rate of 93.1 percent," the note reads.
In second place is Uíge, with 84.8 percent, followed by Benguela with 82.0 percent.
"The average occupancy rate was 59.4 percent for hotels and 61.9 percent for other types of accommodation," the ministry said.
To reach these conclusions, 503 establishments were surveyed, covering 19 provinces.
The list of provinces surveyed is made up of Moxico, Moxico Leste, Benguela, Cunene, Cuanza Sul, Cuanza Norte, Cubango, Icolo e Bengo, Lunda Norte, Bengo, Huíla, Bié, Uíge, Huambo, Malanje, Lunda Sul, Namibe, Zaire and Cabinda.
It is therefore worth mentioning that these conclusions regarding domestic tourism do not include data from Luanda, which is not one of the provinces surveyed.
In the previous survey, covering the period between 16 and 18 May, the tourist markets welcomed 13,094 tourists. During this period, Benguela was the main destination, with a hotel occupancy rate of 100 percent.
According to the ministry, 451 hotel establishments were surveyed in 17 provinces for this May data, with Luanda also being excluded.
