"I would like to express the ministry's commitment to fully aligning itself with the vision of the National Bank of Angola (BNA) in developing and operating a modern, inclusive and secure payment system that serves the economy and society in general, and that contributes to improving the economic and social conditions of every Angolan throughout the country," he said.

In statements made at the closing of the conference on alternative payment instruments, the minister highlighted the "significant steps" that the country has taken in "developing and modernizing its telecommunications and information technology infrastructures."

"Angola has taken significant steps in developing and modernizing its telecommunications and information technology infrastructures, which has enabled the expansion of important services such as banking, with the growth of the Multicaixa network, associated applications such as Multicaixa Express and Kwik," he said, as quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).

On the occasion, Mário Oliveira reported that Angola is preparing to receive services from two new international submarine fibre optic cables: "The country is preparing to receive services from two new international submarine fibre optic cables, 2África and Equiano".

Among other aspects, the minister, quoted by RNA, also highlighted the construction of the root infrastructure for public keys and the Angolan time stamp.

"Another highly relevant project, which will be operationalised shortly and which should have a significant impact on the financial sector, and the banking sector in particular, is the construction of the root infrastructure for public keys and the Angolan time stamp and associated legislation which will allow, among other facilities, digital signatures and the issuing of electronic invoices", he said.
