Sodiam holds an auction of 46 special diamonds, six of which are from Lulo

The National Diamond Trading Company of Angola (Sodiam) will hold an electronic auction of 46 special diamonds weighing more than ten carats, including six stones from the Lulo mine.

According to a company statement, the auction is aimed at customers registered in the Sodiam database and the lots include a total of 46 special stones weighing +10.80 carats, six of which are produced by Lulo, from which the largest diamonds come. produced in Angola, eighteen stones from Catoca production, one from Somiluana, sixteen from Kaixepa and five from Luele production.

The preview sessions end on July 23, 2024, at Sodiam's headquarters in Luanda, and the bidding process, which will be done electronically, closes on July 24, at 10:00 local time.

The auction, which is being organized with the company Trans Atlantic Gem Sales, is the tenth rough diamond auction organized by Sodiam, the last one being held in April.

Sodiam is the state-owned company responsible for marketing Angola's diamond production, originating from seventeen kimberlite and alluvial productions.

In 2023, Sodiam sold and exported around 9.9 million carats in the rough for a total value of around US$1.56 billion, corresponding to an average price of US$158 per carat, positioning Angola as the third largest world producer of rough diamonds in terms of value.
