"Angola occupied fourth place in the list of the ten largest diamond producers in the world in 2023, having raised 1.550 million dollars, with the sale of 9.8 million carats", reads a statement from the guardianship, which VerAngola had access.
The podium is made up of Russia, Botswana and Canada, according to data from the Kimberley Process, cited by the ministry.
Of the ten largest producers, only two are not African.
"It should be noted that eight of the ten countries that make up the ranking are African, namely, Botswana, Angola, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo", indicates the statement.
