In statements at the end of a visit to the Uíge hatchery center, in the village of Cangulo, in the municipality of Negage, cited by Angop, the minister said that it is a plan that the authority will include this year in its list of initiatives, after some studies, with the aim of increasing fish production.
Thus, she clarified that the creation of hatchery centers will increase the capacity to capture fish, as well as helping to achieve the objective of producing 80 thousand tons by 2027.
On the occasion, the head of Fisheries and Marine Resources informed that the future hatchery center will have a laboratory in order to contribute to the study of different species and improve the species that will be cultivated, writes Angop.
It also classified Uíge as the main cacusso producer in Angola, and the province recorded a production of 5863 tons of various species of fish in the first five months of this year, corresponding to 3820 tanks.
She also spoke about the ban on horse mackerel fishing for two months, explaining that the measure serves to guarantee the preservation of the species, adding that there are political conditions to implement the measure.
José Carvalho da Rocha, governor of Uíge, cited by Angop, promised to maintain support for fish farmers, aiming to increase production and promote employment, family income and the development of the province.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources, to which VerAngola had access, during her visit to Negage, the minister and her delegation were received by the municipal administrator, Delfina António Enrique, "who witnessed the delivery of a vessel, food and kits to promote artisanal fishing in the region".
