Joel Leonardo, also the president of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSMJ), said that for the first time in the history of Angola, 183 judges were sworn in simultaneously, of which more than half (95) are women.

“Please receive our warmest welcome and never forget that the judiciary is not just a profession! It is, above all, a vocation, a mission, in which the judge gives everything of himself, to produce and distribute justice and social peace”, said Joel Leonardo.

According to the President of the Supreme Court, in addition to the 20 auditors who are in Portugal finishing a special training course, in the next few days another 20 auditors will participate in Mozambique in a special course, stressing that the time is for multiplying actions to “facilitate the access to equal justice for all”.

“And let no one else wait several years to resolve their divorce, their relative's arrest, eviction, unemployment, their son's bribery, non-payment of their debt, dispute over their land, inheritance and other fundamental rights protected by the Constitution of the Republic”, he highlighted.

To the new judges, the president of the CSMJ asked for speed in the analysis of cases, with “the humility to always seek to know and deepen the discovery of the truth of the facts”, also transmitting a message of encouragement for this new challenge.

According to Joel Leonardo, the inauguration also falls within the scope of the State's efforts to make justice faster, “always bearing in mind that delayed justice is bad justice”.

“Consider the support unit for guarantee judges, as if it were a hospital emergency department, where the citizen must be immediately attended to and remain there for a very short time”, he emphasized.
