According to the spokesman for the National Police in the province of Luanda, Nestor Goubel, the police are investigating the information, adding that this is a group of bikers that caused some disturbances in the area of Ilha de Luanda and in the square of Primeiro de Maio, being now concentrated in the Cidadela de Luanda area.

During Saturday, large groups of bikers were seen on the streets of Luanda, displaying the flag of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) party, on the first day that marked the beginning of the electoral campaign.

Witnesses interviewed by Lusa reported the concentration of about a hundred motorcyclists in the Baleizão square, some wearing t-shirts with the face of MPLA leader João Lourenço, who then headed to the island of Luanda.

A person who witnessed the passage of "hundreds of bikers" through the island, and who preferred not to be identified, said that a crowd had formed near a place known as "Forest" that began to surround cars, including a police car.

In the late afternoon, shots were heard and sirens were heard, and a video was already circulating on social media, in which several bikers concentrated in one place, with some informed that they were waiting for payment for their work, while another says that colleagues were hit by gunshots.

Of the various videos that circulate on social networks, a group of bikers appears to burn MPLA propaganda material, namely shirts, caps and flags, with offenses to the candidate of the ruling party in Angola, appealing to vote for the largest opposition party, the UNITA.

"MPLA did not pay the 'motoboys', look at the sadness", shouted the protesters.

On Ilha de Luanda, the city's tourist area, a black cloud was visible, forcing the intervention of firefighters, in addition to vandalized private vehicles.

Nestor Goubel later referred to more precise data on the situation in Luanda, where the MPLA, the party that has governed Angola for 47 years, marked the beginning of the electoral campaign with a rally chaired by João Lourenço, in Camama.
