The appeal was made by Mário Lopes Cangole, the mentor of the PSDFA, in statements to the Lusa agency, after having canceled a meeting to address "Social Discrimination, Social Exclusion, Disrespect for People with Disabilities" due to the lack of attendance of the invited people, including the media.

Mário Lopes Cangole referred that the problems that affect people with disabilities in Angola are many and increasing, without deserving the due attention of the Government, civil society and some institutions.

"People with disabilities are in great need, the objective of this project is to support all people with physical disabilities who live outdoors and register these people so that we know how many we are at the national level", he said.

The official said that the PSDFA currently controls over 200 people across the country, but the number is higher, defending the need for a new registration to also assess the origin of these citizens' disabilities.

"Previously, the person affected by any war situation was registered as a person with physical disabilities, but the war ended and there are still people with physical disabilities. There are people affected at birth, others by road accidents, work accidents and the State must continue to work on the registration", he added.

Data from the General Population and Housing Census of Angola, 2014, indicate that 2.5 percent of the total population, at the time 25.7 million inhabitants, has some physical or mental disability, corresponding to over 656 thousand people, most of them residing in rural areas.

According to Mário Lopes Cangolo, support has been requested from the Government and letters have been addressed to the President of the Republic, the First Lady of the Republic, the National Assembly, but without replies.

The official said that the State has not fulfilled its responsibilities, passing them on to the associations, which in turn are unable to do much because they also depend on donations.

For the PSDFA, it is essential that the State gives shelter to people with physical disabilities and grants a monthly pension of 50,000 kwanzas, "taking into account the lack of life in the country".

"And create a training policy for these citizens and more opportunities in the job market", said Mário Lopes Cangolo, stressing that there is great discrimination and social exclusion.

Mário Lopes Cangolo gives his own example to illustrate the difficulties faced by the physically disabled in Angola, briefly considering the life of the disabled in the country "very difficult".

"I am an athlete of the Paralympic Committee, I have needs. I go to training and compete with my crutches, when they are damaged no one is responsible, we practice sport for the love of the jersey, with nothing, without prizes for games", he stressed.

Asked to summarize the day-to-day of a disabled person in Luanda, Mário Lopes Cangolo pointed out as the first difficulty people's locomotion, which is aggravated in the rainy season.

"On public transport, especially wheelchair users, face great difficulties. I myself have been attacked on more than one occasion by employees of public transport companies for lacking 50 kwanzas for the ticket, but there is a decree that says that all the person with a disability has exemption", he said.

On the eve of the elections, the PSDFA official regretted the absence of concrete policies aimed at this fringe of the population in the electoral programs already released.
