On the occasion, the health minister informed that the center is part of a national program to increase the capacity for hemodialysis of patients with chronic and acute renal failure.

"A conventional dialysis service will be provided for acute chronic patients and for the first time in Luanda, we have a center with the capacity to perform peritoneal dialysis, which is another gain", said Sílvia Lutucuta.

The minister, quoted in the note, also made it known that Hospital do Prenda is one of the units that will soon "be a national reference when it comes to high complexity nephrology".

The official also explained that specialists in nephrology will be trained: "We are going to train specialists in nephrology for the medical profession, nurses, diagnostic technicians and also electromedical personnel, which is an area in which we already have staff".
