Portugal provides 150 thousand euros to support the training of Angolan teachers

Portugal and Angola signed an agreement to finance master's degrees for the training of Angolan teachers, through a partnership with the University of Minho, which has support of 150 thousand euros from the Camões institute.

The secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation highlighted, after signing the agreement in Luanda, its importance for Portuguese cooperation, underlining that it is aligned with the strategic cooperation objectives that are intended to be developed with Angola and with the development objectives United Nations sustainable development.

"This model corresponds to the evolution of cooperation between our two countries", declared Francisco André, highlighting "the leadership and initiative" that the Angolan authorities demonstrated in this process.

"We will be together at the end to objectively evaluate the results of the program," he added.

Francisco André, who is in Angola as part of the summit of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), indicated that the visit will also serve to review several issues of Portuguese cooperation with the Angolan public administration and review the current situation. .

But it will mainly serve, he continued, for the week that celebrates the 25th anniversary of the CPLP "strengthen the ties between the two countries" and program the future relationship in the next European framework of external cooperation, where Portugal and Angola are involved.

The director of the staff office of the President of the Republic, Edson Barreto, said that the agreement "very much strengthens the ties of cooperation and friendship between the two countries" and follows a memorandum of understanding signed in 2018.

In this case, it is the sending of 100 Angolan students to the Institute of Education of the University of Minho, to take master's courses in special methodologies in pre-school, primary education and first and second cycle, he explained.

The agreement, achieved with the sending of Angolan students to Portugal, already carried out last May, will have a financial contribution from Camões – Institute of Cooperation and Language for the implementation of the project in the amount of 150 thousand euros.
